West Ham boss Grant despairs at impatient owners

West Ham boss Avram Grant has hit out at impatient club owners who see sacking managers as the solution to all their problems. The Israeli was commenting following the sacking of Roberto Di Matteo at West Bromwich Albion.

But after guiding Albion to promotion from the Championship last season, Di Matteo's departure shocked many and has been met with wide criticism.

Grant, who was on the verge of the sack himself in January has hit out at the short-term decisions being made in the modern game.

"It isn't the first and it won't be the last. I don't like it," he said of Di Matteo's sacking.

"In the last year there have been more losses in the history of football because everyone is interested in the short term.

"It's always the easiest solution. Sometimes the easiest solution is not the right solution.

"The best managers in the world are Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger.

"If they would have started today I don't know what would happen to them because everybody loses patience."
