West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce was over the moon for new signing Enner Valencia after Monday night's 2-2 draw with Hull City.
The 24-year old Ecuadorian striker, who joined from Pachuca for around £12million in the summer, opened his Hammers account in fine fashion at the KC Stadium in an entertaining affair.
Valencia fired home a sublime effort in the 50th minute to draw the east Londoners level following Tigers debutant Abel Hernandez's fine header late in the first half.
West Ham fell behind again when ex-Hammers midfielder Mo Diame netted his first goal for Hull with a fine finish in the 64th minute before Allardyce's side levelled when Diafra Sakho's tame shot trickled off Curtis Davies and into the back of the net just three minutes later.
Allardyce was happy with how his side fought back on two occasions and was particularly fond of the stunning strike by Valencia who scored three goals for Ecuador at the 2014 World Cup.
"It was a bit hair-raising for me when you go down twice, but we came back and showed great character," he told Sky Sports.
"To play away from home and go 1-0 down, when there wasn't anything between the teams in the first half (was difficult).
"But what a goal from Enner Valencia. I think everyone has seen why we have bought him now. It was a terrific strike, brilliant power and accuracy.
"We bounced back at 2-1 and then at the end I was ready to start dancing, which is not a pleasing sight, but we respect the point away from home, because we have come back from behind twice.
"It was a very good performance from the team and I think they will only get better as they get to know each other more."
Regarding Valencia, he added further: "We have been seeing that in training, and that must make him feel really good and that he has arrived. I hope he goes on to score many more like that."
The draw took 12th-placed West Ham's tally to four points from their opening four matches while Hull dropped to 10th with their second draw of the campaign.
