West Ham boss Curbishley taken aback by injury list

West Ham United striker Craig Bellamy could be out for up to a month with an abdominal strain.

He joins Dean Ashton, Scott Parker, Bobby Zamora, Julien Faubert, Kieron Dyer and Calum Davenport on the sidelines.

Hammers boss Alan Curbishley continued: "If you look at the injuries we've had, they have all been impact injuries. We could have done nothing about them.

"Kieron Dyer broke his leg, Scott Parker and Dean Ashton damaged knee ligaments. We have had hardly any muscle injuries.

"It is a shame to have to keep talking about our injury situation, though, especially in what is a very important week for the club.

"It looks like we'll have to close Craig down again. We're looking at the international break to try to sort it out once and for all.

"He's had this injury since pre-season. He's been training and playing, but he's been in discomfort, so we've got to sort the problem out."

Curbishley will now lobby for Bellamy to miss Wales' Euro 2008 qualifier against the Republic of Ireland on November 17, as well as the clash in Germany four days later.
