West Ham boss Bilic: Big Sam left me a good legacy

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic says Sam Allardyce left him a good foundation to build on.

The Hammers face Allardyce's Crystal Palace today.

Bilic wrote for the London Evening Standard: "It will be good to meet up with Sam Allardyce tomorrow. We will have a chat and a glass of wine after the game whatever the result.

"I like Sam very much and he did a good job for West Ham. He left me a good legacy when I came here and from what I have been told, did much to improve things on the pitch during his four years.

"Of course much has changed since he left. We're not at the Boleyn any more and we have also changed training grounds but he left me the basis of a good squad and some of the players, especially the British ones who played under him, are still here.

"It will be a tough game and the thing I have noticed about Crystal Palace is their inconsistency. They seem to have long, good runs and then long spells of poor results."
