West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is reluctant to see Andy Carroll selected for England.
England boss Roy Hodgson saw Carroll return from a month out with a hamstring injury as a sub in West Ham's 2-1 win at QPR.
Carroll could feature when Hodgson names his squad on Thursday for the World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Poland.
But boss Allardyce warned: "Andy's woefully short of match practice - I'm sure Roy will deal with that in the right way."
