West Ham boss Allardyce upset missing Swansea's Michu

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce admits he's disappointed they failed to land Swansea City striker Michu in the summer.

The Spanish star, a snip for Swansea at £2million, was on the club's radar in the summer but manager Allardyce was never told by assistant Martin Glover: 'You must sign this player.'

"I wish he had," Allardyce said. "You take your choices, but certainly on the basis of what he cost he would have been within our budget. Whether we wanted to take the risk was another matter. More often than not you want somebody with a bit of a Premier League record."
