West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce can't put a date on Andy Carroll's return from injury.
Allardyce tried to sign more strikers to partner Carroll in the summer transfer window, but revealed that their targets didn't want to join his club. And he admitted Carroll's injury took them by surprise.
He said: "We try to get a return date out of the doctors in Amsterdam. They're reluctant to give a clear indication how long it'll be when he can join us back here and train with the squad and start getting into the team to play games. It's a great concern for us all, one we hadn't expected but we have to make sure we deal with it."
