West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce can understand Scott Parker quitting the club for Tottenham.
Allardyce wrote in his column for the London Evening Standard: "Scott felt he had to move on to further his England career and I could understand why he thought that way. It's more and more difficult to take the coach's eye if you are not performing regularly in the top division.
"Sometimes a move to another club within the Premier League enhances your opportunities. Take Manchester United defender Phil Jones. Would he have got his England chance if he had stayed at Blackburn where, incidentally, when I was there he was playing just as well? Probably not."
