West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has offered on-loan Liverpool striker Andy Carroll some career advice.
Carroll's future beyond the end of this campaign is up in the air. He is due to return to Liverpool once his season-long loan at West Ham is up.
Allardyce said: "He has to go in someone's first team and score goals and continue his development. The lack of goalscoring players in the England squad now is very limited.
"Andy hasn't proven to be a goalscorer this year, but we have seen him score lots of goals in the Championship and for Newcastle in the Premier League.
"I would be highly surprised if he didn't get back in the England squad, but to do that he needs to be in somebody's first team."
