West Ham United has hailed the work off the pitch of Andy Carroll.
The striker started for the defeat at Everton on Saturday.
"He has had so much work done on his life," said Allardyce.
"Andy has a fiancee (Billi Mucklow) who is the owner of a gym, a yoga gym. So as he has been striving for fitness, he has spent some time there with her. It has helped him stay in good condition.
"We didn't want to play him for 90 minutes but it had to be that way. He coped well. We know he is going to get better. With other strikers putting pressure on Andy, he has to get on top of his game.
"He looks after himself and thinks he should play every week. But at this moment, he has a little way to go. He needs to get full match fitness but he did very well here."
