West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has opened the door to Ricardo Vaz Te returning to the first team.

Allardyce wrote in the London Evening Standard: "Ricardo Vaz Te submitted a transfer request before deadline day but now the window is shut, he has to get on with it.

"It's down to him and he has to convince me he's the best man for the job. He thinks it's my fault because he hasn't played as much as he wanted to but I don't think his performances have been as good as they should have been.

"It's his responsibility to prove me wrong. There is a right and a wrong way to ask for a transfer - he chose the wrong way."
