West Ham boss Allardyce: Moyes knew Man Utd job demands

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has no doubts David Moyes took the Manchester United job with his eyes wide open.

Allardyce wrote in the London Evening Standard: "David Moyes realised exactly what he was taking on when he succeeded Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United.

"He knew full well that, once his team were defeated - and particularly by their noisy neighbours - the comparisons would be made and questions asked.

"Since the moment he arrived at Old Trafford, he will have been learning about his players - their strengths, weaknesses and character - and he will have gleaned much from the 4-1 defeat by Manchester City, as well as the Capital One Cup win over Liverpool.

"As Premier League managers we are all under intense scrutiny most of the time but none more so than David.

"There are many who expect United to repeat last season's achievement of winning the Premier League but that is not easy to do.

"What David will be learning now is how to deal with the pressure that comes with being manager of the champions.

"The expectation is you win every game - he will have known that when he took the job but still it would have come as an eye opener."
