West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce is convinced he can get Tottenham winger David Bentley back to his best.
Bentley, 27, is out of favour at White Hart Lane and Hammers boss Allardyce is trying to tease the best back out of the winger.
But he admitted: "When you're forgotten at a club, you become very depressed. You forget what it's like to experience the joys of waking up on a Saturday and being picked for the first team.
"People say footballers are happy to just pick up the money - they're not. They want to play.
"David's shown his confidence is improving. He wants the ball.
"He opens things up for us in a way other players can't. I'm going to encourage him to do that.
"He was a £15million player. You can't lose your quality but you can lose your confidence."
