West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce wants to hit the 40-point barrier as soon as possible so to plan for the summer market.

West Ham go to Chelsea tomorrow, having beaten them 3-1 earlier this season, and are in 12th position on 33 points.

Allardyce said: "I think we need another five points. Thirty eight will make you safe this year but we will all aim for 40 just in case.

"Hopefully we will be safe as soon as possible because there is a lot to negotiate."
