West Ham boss Allardyce defends Pearson over Leicester fan rap

West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce has jumped to the defence of Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson over his clash with a fan in midweek.

Pearson is in hot water following his outburst, but Allardyce called for calm.

He said: "I wouldn't have reacted the same way. I'm too old and wise to start anything of that sort of degree.

"I've known Nigel for many years, I worked with him at Newcastle and he'll have let a bit of frustration go.

"Somebody will have said something just at the wrong time when he's not very happy by the way he's not been able to build on the Manchester United result and he'll be thinking it's just a reaction to one fan that was very, very abusive by the sound of it.

"That's the way it goes, it's not something that should cause Leicester or the owners of Leicester any great concern apart from the fact it's just a reaction in a situation where he probably reacted in the wrong way.

"He probably knows that now, but that can happen."
