West Ham United boss Sam Allardyce admits it's been a battle getting his head around the Financial Fair Play laws this summer.
Allardyce wrote in the London Evening Standard: "The most difficult thing for me this season has been the new wage structure caused by Financial Fair Play. My experience as a manager is that the expenditure has always been restricted by the owners of the club; it's been up to them how far they went.
"Now the rules are governing how much clubs are allowed to spend, something I have found quite difficult in terms of my responsibility to improve the team.
"In terms of expenditure, we've spent less than Cardiff and although the signing of Andy (Carroll) and Stewart Downing has taken it to £20-million plus, that total is over three years."
