West Ham United's board was delighted with Scott Parker's courage in victory over Wigan Athletic.
Parker scored the third against Wigan despite a lingering chest infection.
Co-chairman David Gold said: "On Friday, Scott had a temperature, a virus, and a chest infection. Yet 24 hours later he scored a fantastic goal.
"The run he made, lots of people without a virus wouldn't have made, but he is the stalwart."
