West Ham board split on salary cap

West Ham United's board are split on the need for a salary cap.

The Mail on Sunday says David Gold, surprisingly, appears now to be interested in a cap.

Along with his West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan, Gold had been an outspoken opponent, but appears to be softening.

His vice-chairman Karren Brady still believes a wage cap would be a mistake but West Ham's financial problems could make a compelling case.
