Premier League newcomers West Ham United could beat some of their rivals to the services of Mohamed Diame.
The 24-year old Senegalese midfielder is a free agent after his contract with Wigan Athletic expired at the end of last season and has been heavily linked with the likes of Liverpool, Aston Villa, QPR and Sunderland.
But Sky Sports suggests that the Hammers are in their second round of talks with Diame and could clinch his signature from under the noses of some more established top flight clubs.
