West Ham United are ready to swoop for Portsmouth midfielder Marc Wilson.
The People says Hammers boss Avram Grant worked with the 22-year-old at Pompey, where he was primarily a centre-half. But he also played in midfield, which Grant feels is his best position.
Pompey want £5m for Wilson although the cash-strapped club are likely to accept closer to £3m. Even that figure would be too high for rivals Newcastle United, who are refusing to sanction any sizeable bids.
