West Ham United have appointed Mario Husillos as their new director of football.

This was pretty much an expected move as Husillos will reunite with manager Manuel Pellegrini, who took charge of the team last month.

Pellegrini and Husillos worked together at Malaga in similar roles and the Hammers hope their cooperation will function well at London Stadium.

The club intend to avoid facing relegation with a new managerial structure, the problem they had more than once in previous years.

The 59-year-old has signed a three-year deal with West Ham.
