West Ham aim to beat Swansea for Gudjohnsen

West Ham United are expected to win the battle for Eidur Gudjohnsen.

The London Evening Standard says the 32-year-old former Bolton Wanderers, Chelsea and Barcelona star was due in London for a medical and will sign at Upton Park provided there are no issues.

Premier League newcomers Swansea City were also chasing free agent Gudjohnsen but West Ham appear to have won the race.

Gudjohnsen, who was on loan at Fulham at the end of last season, almost signed for West Ham in January 2010 but changed his mind and went to rivals Tottenham instead.
