West Ham are ahead of Manchester United in the race for St Etienne fullback Kevin Malcuit.

United scouts are expected to monitor Saint-Etienne full-back Kevin Malcuit, according to the Manchester Evening News.

The 25-year-old full-back started both games against United in the last 32 of the Europa League, during which he is understood to have impressed Jose Mourinho.

With Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw failing to convince Mourinho since his appointment, the Portuguese is expected to strengthen his defensive option this summer.

However, Sky Sports News HQ says West Ham are closing in on a deal to sign Malcuit, having failed to bring him to the London Stadium in January.
