West Ham ace Hitzlsperger: England best place to play

West Ham United midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger is enjoying his time back in England.

Hitzlsperger, who was at Bayern Munich from the age of seven, has tasted different football cultures in his homeland as well as Italy, where he played for Lazio, but it's England which really gets his juices flowing.

"The pace and physical side of things is more intense in the Premier League than the Bundesliga," he told the London Evening Standard. "Technically the German League is good and you have seen from the national side that the education of the young players is also quite good.

"They do not have the amount of money from TV which happens here but they are trying to reduce the gap between the top teams in the world and the German sides.

"The German system still knows how to develop young players and there are good managers coming through as well, not just former players but unknown people who are really good at teaching players how to improve.

"I've seen three leagues now and, for me, the Premier League is the one I want to be in. The top stars play here and the passion, the atmosphere, is something you can't really describe. You just feel it.

"I was reasonably successful at Stuttgart and I enjoyed my time there but over here - it just feels better."
