West Brom midfielder Borja Valero credits England boss Fabio Capello for kickstarting his career when they were together at Real Madrid.

"As a coach I respect Fabio Capello," Valero told West Brom's official website. "He was the first coach who put trust in me and put me in the Real Madrid first team.

"As a player I look up to Ariel Ibagaza because last season at Real Mallorca he helped me grow as a player.

"We are very good friends. I know Arbeloa at Liverpool. We are mates from Real Madrid and I spoke to him before signing for West Bromwich.

"We talked about the Premier League in general and English life."
