Nicky Shorey, after falling out of favour with previous West Bromwich Albion boss Roberto Di Matteo, is pleased to have been reinstated back into the first team by new manager Roy Hodgson. The 30-year-old has previously played under Hodgson at Fulham where he had a loan spell and his performances clearly left a mark.
"I'm really happy to be back in the side," he told the Birmingham Daily Mail.
"I've played the last three or four games now and I'm delighted to be given that chance to play again.
"It was frustrating before when I was out of the team.
"Some managers like different players. A new manager comes in and people get a chance, which is nice to see."
He added: "I've had a chance and am now doing all I can to make the most of it.
"Roy Hodgson goes about his business in a certain way and makes sure he gets the lads ready throughout the week and we work hard on team stuff and what we are going to do on Saturday."
