West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie has spoken of why Yury Zhirkov flopped at Chelsea.

The Russia international is now back home playing for mega rich Anzhi.

"Zhirkov went to a massive club with a lot of competition for first-team places," said ex-Lokomotiv Moscow star Odemwingie. "If he'd chosen a mid-table club, he would have settled a lot better, as he has all the right qualities: talent, pace, good left foot.

"I also had the impression that Yury is a little shy: if he was more aggressive, he would have played more."
