Zenit St Petersburg winger Szabolcs Huszti is wanted by West Bromwich Albion.
The Daily Mail says manager Roy Hodgson has made his move after former target Cristian Rodriguez of Porto opted to discuss a possible move to Lazio instead.
Huszti has also been attracting interest from Blackburn but the biggest threat comes from Monaco who despite struggling at the foot of the French second division are putting together an ambitious new project with their Russian owners.
Zenit are willing to allow Huzsti out on loan and the 28-year-old Hungary international is expected to talk over a move with Albion before making up his mind.
