West Brom winger Thomas: Liverpool win was for Hodgson

West Bromwich Albion winger Jerome Thomas says victory over Liverpool was for manager Roy Hodgson.

Just three months on from seeing his Liverpool reign come to an end Hodgson was in the opposition dugout masterminding Albion's first victory over the Reds for 30 years.

"It was a great win and, to be honest, we outplayed Liverpool," Thomas told the WBA website.

"We definitely deserved the win. We all work in the industry and know how much this game would have meant to the gaffer, especially with the way it ended for him at Liverpool.

"The work he has put into us, and the way he prepared us for the game, showed on the pitch. It was nice to get the win for him.

"He was all smiles after the game. But he did say even if we hadn't come in with the win he would have been pleased with the way we played.

"He said he'd never seen a Liverpool team concede so many chances.

"The lads were great today - I can't praise them enough."
