West Brom winger Chris Brunt has no doubts manager Roberto di Matteo can cut it in the Premiership.
It will be the former Chelsea FA Cup winner's first season in top-flight management.
And Brunt told the Sunday Mercury: "Coming in at the start of the season without much time to put his own stamp on things, the gaffer and Eddie Newton have done a great job for us to have had such a good season.
"I don't think we conceded as many and we didn't lose as many games as before so, if you look at the season as a whole, then it ticks all their boxes.
"There's no reason why we can't go on and do that in the Premier League next year because I think we've got a bit more grit and determination to grind out results, more than we did the last time we were up there.
"If you look at the Premier League, there are a lot of teams that were like that last season - we can do that too.
"We know that we've got players that can win games and create chances so, if we can all club together and produce that steel as a squad there's no reason we can't stay in the Premier League."
