West Brom wanted to send Saido Berahino to Watford ahead of Stoke.
The Daily Mail says Berahino ended his Hawthorns hell last night and hit the jackpot when he signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at Stoke City worth £70,000 a week.
The news came as a blow to Watford, who had explored the possibility of swapping striker Odion Ighalo, who is a target for Albion manager Tony Pulis.
Albion would have preferred Berahino to move to Vicarage Road but the striker's No 1 choice was Stoke.
Berahino is desperate to kick-start his once promising career — he was named by Roy Hodgson in an England squad in 2014.
