West Bromwich Albion are waiting in the wings to take Malky Mackay off Cardiff City's hands.
The Mail on Sunday says Cardiff owner Vincent Tan, who saw his team beaten 3-1 by Liverpool, is preparing to axe Mackay in the next 48 hours.
A speedy settlement would appear to suit all parties, with West Bromwich Albion delaying filling their own managerial vacancy until they see if Mackay is available.
