West Brom U23 boss Shan: Jonathan Leko developing allround game

West Brom under-23s boss James Shan is delighted with the progress of Jonathan Leko.

The 17-year-old winger has always been an exciting talent on the ball, with the pace and trickery necessary to beat a man. But now he's developing his positioning sense while out of possession.

“We all know what he can do going forwards when he gets into his rhythm and his stride," said Shan to the Express & Star. “One-v-one, he's fantastic.

“When he came up from the schoolboy programme, he played high and stayed high, waited for the ball to come to him.

“It's been a process of two-and-a-half years to get Jon to understand what his job without the ball is.

“The first-team manager has added that to his game ten-fold.

“He's adding that to his game, he's developing that all the time."
