West Brom striker Odemwingie back in training

West Bromwich Albion striker Peter Odemwingie is expected to take his place for the club when they return to Premier League action on the weekend.

The Nigerian has been hampered by an ankle injury sustained in pre-season, restricting him to just a 20-minute cameo against Chelsea, but he should be available for selection when the Baggies travel to Norwich City on Sunday according to manager Roy Hodgson.

However, the same cannot be said for two-goal forward Shane Long who is struggling with a calf injury.

"Peter is OK, I think. He has trained this week and things are looking OK," Hodgson said.

"With Shane it's too early to say. It's a calf strain, it's not a pull or a completely damaged muscle, it's just the fibres.

"The medical staff are working on it at the moment but I think his chances are being put at 50-50 by the medical staff and time will tell.

"It all depends how quick a healer he is really."
