West Bromwich Albion striker Shane Long has enjoyed his partnership with Somen Tchoyi.
Peter Odemwingie's ankle problem means the pair have only been on the pitch at the same time for around 20 minutes - and have yet to start a game together.
That has provided Tchoyi with his chance - and Long believes the Cameroon international has taken it.
"Of course, losing Peter on Sunday was a blow but Somen set me up once or twice," he told the WBA website.
"He's a handful upfront and has been playing really well.
"He's not afraid to hit the ball.
"He also manages to get himself out wide with the centre back, which is not where a central defender wants to be.
"He takes them on and puts in great balls and I nearly scored a goal from his work on Sunday.
"I couldn't have headed it any better. It's a stupid saying but I think I headed it too well. I hit it straight at their keeper and it was a great save.
"Somen's a good lad and I'm sure he will chip in with a few goals as well.
"Marco also scored twice at Bournemouth in the week, and Coxy got one, so with myself and Peter too, there are a few options for the gaffer upfront."
