West Brom, Stoke target Defoe wants Newcastle move

West Bromwich Albion are chasing Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe.

West Bromwich Albion are chasing Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe.

The People says West Brom will throw Defoe a lifeline if he is jettisoned by Tottenham on deadline day – although Defoe hopes Newcastle United will revive their interest.

Baggies boss, Steve Clarke is keen on Defoe, who is desperate for first team football in a World Cup year.

Stoke City are also interested in the striker, but Defoe hopes Newcastle come back in for him before the window closes – although Toon are unlikely to match Tottenham’s £6million valuation, or his £65,000-a-week wages.
