West Bromwich Albion and Northern Ireland international Chris Brunt is hoping that his return from injury can help the club as it looks to climb out of the bottom three in the Premier League.
Brunt returned from an absence recently, and came on in the 72nd minute against Manchester United in a 2-1 loss. While he could not help his side turn the game around, he believes that he can have a very positive impact in the coming weeks and months.
"It was nice to get on, I've had five or ten minutes in the last couple of games, but it was nice to get a good runout," said Brunt.
"I need to get more time on the pitch to get that match sharpness back but I'm pleased I managed to add little bits and pieces to our game.
"Hopefully I've done enough to put myself in the manager's thoughts."
Brunt acknowledged the team has struggled this season, especially in attack. West Brom have a decent defence, having only conceded 24 goals in 18 games. However, the paltry total of 13 goals scored is the issue, and Brunt hopes to help with that.
"The run we're on, it's tough going. There's a few of us in the dressing room who have seen the highs and lows. We're in a bit of a low one at the moment and we want to get out of it. If I can do something to help that then I'll be delighted," he said.
"We're all here to play football matches and no matter how old you get, I'm no different, you always want to play. We went through a few spells like this last year and we came out of it.
"The goal might be the catalyst to try and get us out of this. We have a big game now next week away to Stoke. They're not in great shape either so it's going to be a big game."
West Brom will know the game against Stoke is a must win, with both teams in the bottom four positions in the league right now.
