West Brom skipper Brunt spies survival with Villa win

West Bromwich Albion captain Chris Brunt is aiming to secure their top-flight survival with victory over Aston Villa.

It is regarded in many quarters that 42 points will be enough to guarantee the Baggies a second successive season of Barclays Premier League football.

And a win this Saturday would not only move them a point ahead of that tally, it would also end the supporters' agonising 26-year wait for a victory over neighbours Villa.

"Local pride is a big thing among the punters but the most important thing for us is to make sure we're in the Premier League next season," the Northern Ireland international told the WBA website.

"If we can win on Saturday and keep us in there for another year, then that's what we want to do.

"We don't want to wind down the season and find that in each game we still need a point to stay up.

"We want to get it done as soon as possible."
