West Brom signing Somen Tchoyi: Arsenal legend Adams my hero

West Bromwich Albion signing Somen Tchoyi admits he grew up idolising Arsenal legend Tony Adams.

The 27-year-old Cameroon international made his Baggies debut as a 75th-minute substitute in Sunday's undeserved 1-0 defeat at Liverpool.

And, while Adams was a fiery character on the pitch, Tchoyi intends to let his feet do the talking in whatever midfield role Roberto Di Matteo chooses to use him in.

"I dreamed to play in England and I'm very happy to be here," he told the WBA website.

"My idol was Tony Adams. I really like the way he played the game and commanded people. I'm more calm and relaxed. I think I'm a technical player and bring something going forward.

"I also have speed and believe I can change a game.

"I'm here for the team and will play wherever the coach puts me - except in goal!

"I like to play in central midfield where I can be more in the game. But when I moved to Red Bull the coach put me on the right side of midfield - and I like that too.

"Just tell me what to do and I will do it properly."
