West Brom's Thorne has Portsmouth loan extended

West Bromwich Albion youngster George Thorne will remain on loan with Portsmouth for a further month.

The 19-year old midfielder joined Pompey in November to link up with former Baggies assistant Michael Appleton who took the reins at Fratton Park in the same month.

Thorne returned to The Hawthorns in December but headed back to the south coast in February and will now spend another four weeks under Appleton's tutelage.

"It's good for George to get games in central midfield. We have some very fierce competition there at the moment," Baggies boss Roy Hodgson told the Birmingham Post.

"So it was a chance for us to loan him out and get a few games under his belt. We wish George all the best."
