West Brom's Teixeira joins Barnsley

West Brom midfielder Filipe Teixiera has completed a loan move to Championship rivals Barnsley.

The 29-year old former Portugal U21 international will join the Tykes on a one-month deal with view to a permanent deal.

Teixeira's contract with the Baggies is due to expire in the summer meaning both clubs will have time to decide what happens with his future, according to Barnsley boss Mark Robins.

"Filipe is technically a top, top player," Robins told his club's official website.

"He is a playmaker who was instrumental in helping West Brom win promotion a couple of seasons ago.

"He will come here initially for a month, but his contract is up at the end of the season and will give both parties the chance to have a much closer look at each other.

"Filipe needs to play games and if we can get him playing to the top of his ability then he will be a very, very good addition to our squad and will benefit us greatly."
