West Bromwich Albion midfielder Paul Scharner admits he may be different to your everyday footballer.
The 31-year old Austrian said in an interview with Express and Star that it doesn't bother him when people suggest that he is a bit different and is happy to be that guy who is a little bit left of centre.
"It sounds good when people say 'Paul Scharner is different.' I don't know if I am eccentric but I am different. I am not a normal footballer. I don't have 10 wives or girlfriends, I don't go out and have any scandal, I am totally different," he said.
"I remember the first few interviews that my colleagues here gave to the press, saying I was a 'moanivator' and things like that.
"I think if you asked them now they would give you a different picture of me. In the beginning it is difficult because the other people think 'is he a stranger or is he mad?'
"But after a few months they know me better and they can look behind the mask and see me. I would describe myself as a funny, nice guy."
And Scharner says that the hair dye will again be out as he completes his first season with the Baggies.
"When I first coloured hair it was my aunt in Austria who made it white and purple because it was the colours of my former club, Austria Vienna - I looked like a small pig!
"It was on for the Wolves game but now, because I can't play, I am looking at the Everton game," he added.
