West Bromwich Albion midfielder Paul Scharner has criticised Aston Villa for their treatment of teammate Shane Long on Saturday.
Villa defender Alan Hutton produced a couple of very heavy challenges on the Republic of Ireland international early in the Villa Park contest which eventually saw the Baggies win 2-1.
Scharner, who scored the winner in the 57th minute, believes the home side went out to 'kick' Long and was unhappy with how they went about it.
"You could see, especially in the first ten to 15 minutes, they tried very hard to kick Shane," he told the Birmingham Mail.
"If you are scoring three or four goals by this stage of the season, and you are always a threat, then defenders will be looking at you again.
"I think they got away with it and eventually Shane had to go off the field.
"There was some harsh tackling but hopefully it is not too bad."
