West Bromwich Albion caretaker manager Keith Downing heaped praise on Saido Berahino after the youngster scored a vital winner on Wednesday.

The 20-year old stepped up to the penalty spot in the 87th minute to give the Baggies a 1-0 triumph over Newcastle United, taking his season tally to eight in all competitions, and prompting plenty of praise from the boss.

"Coolness personified," he told Sky Sports of the England U21 international.

"He's got a lot of experience in that young head of his. He's a natural finisher. I had every confidence when he stepped up. It was a good finish.

"I think it's a case of him keeping his feet on the ground. Keep learning from the experience around him. Hopefully we've got a talent here."
