West Brom rule out ex-Wolves boss McCarthy

West Bromwich Albion will not consider hiring Mick McCarthy as their next manager.

The Irishman will leave Ipswich Town at the end of the season and is said to be keen on a return to the Black Country.

McCarthy spent six years in charge of Albion's biggest rivals, Wolves, before joining Ipswich in 2012.

However, the Baggies board is concerned about McCarthy's affiliation with Wolves and have ruled him out of the running to takeover from Alan Pardew, who left the Hawthorns by mutual consent on Monday.

Brentford's Dean Smith, Leicester City assistant Michael Appleton and Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes are all being considered for the job.
