James Morrison and Steven Reid are backing West Bromwich Albion keeper Scott Carson to reclaim the England number one spot. Carson has been Fabio Capello's fourth-choice keeper in recent times behind Joe Hart, Ben Foster and Robert Green.
He has had an impressive end to the campaign with the Baggies and produced two superb saves to deny Victor Anichebe during Saturday's 1-0 win over Everton at the Hawthorns.
Midfielder Morrison said: "Scott is good enough to be England number one, definitely.
"You have seen the form he showed against Everton. Obviously he's got to contend with Joe Hart, who is in fantastic form and a great keeper. But, if Scott can get that form he demonstrated against Everton on a regular basis, I can't see why not.
"Even if Scott can fight his way to back Joe Hart up, it is still a great achievement.
"Scott is a laid-back character and he just takes take things as they come but in the back of his mind he will be thinking that there is a chance."
Albion defender Steven Reid echoed Morrison's sentiments, saying: "Scott has been a big part of our success over the last couple of months. They were two great saves from Anichebe. He is capable of that. He has played for England in the past at a young age.
"He is still only young but he is an experienced player so I am sure he will get a chance again at some point."
