West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo has not been in touch with Sol Campbell since the defender settled his contract dispute with Notts County. The Baggies are believed to have held preliminary talks with Campbell at the start of October when his immediate future was unclear.

But speaking on Thursday afternoon, Di Matteo remained coy when asked about any developments.

"We get linked with so many players," he said. "We got linked with Jamie Ward from Sheffield United, I don't know where that came from. We get linked with players every day almost.

"I saw that (Campbell becoming a free agent). I never spoke to him on Wednesday, so there's no news on that front."
