West Brom not anxious to improve bid on Birmingham's Ridgewell

Roy Hodgson does not believe West Bromwich Albion will improve their offer for Birmingham City defender Liam Ridgewell.

The Baggies had a bid rejected by the Blues for the 27-year old centre-back and Hodgson has indicated that he is unlikely to return with an improved proposal.

"We made our bid and we perhaps have to start looking elsewhere," he told the club's official website.

"I don't think the club is anxious to improve that bid.

"As far as I'm concerned it was an idea that came up and I thought it was a good idea at the price we thought would be a possibility.

"But if it's not a possibility then we'll have to move away.

"As I've said many times, we're not desperate to do business.

"If we're going to do it it's got to be at the price it will be in the summer and not the price it might be just because it happens to be January."
