West Brom No2 Newton: Rodgers will have Reading firing

West Brom assistant manager Eddie Newton believes the Baggies are going to need to produce a top-notch performance to get the points against reading this week.

Despite West Brom sitting second on the Championship table, 11 points ahead of 21st-placed Reading, Newton is quite aware of the man behind the Royals, Brendan Rodgers, and what he can get his teams to produce.

"I know Brendan well from working with him at Chelsea - he's a good guy and likes football to be played the right way," said Newton.

"They've lost a lot of senior players and when you do that and replace them with a lot of younger players it's a big transition.

"It doesn't always work and it's not always seamless that you just come in and take over.

"He'll keep working at it and they will do well."
