West Bromwich Albion assistant manager Keith Downing suggests that Roy Hodgson has not yet made a decision regarding his stay at the club.
Hodgson is being linked with the England job, along with Tottenham's Harry Redknapp, and Downing feels that the Baggies boss is keeping his options open just in case.
"No-one has questioned it, staff-wise or player-wise.
"Ultimately he's still planning ahead. I don't think he has taken his eye off the ball at all. I think he's still planning for the future here.""Roy has kept his cards close to his chest and I respect that. He's got a lot of things to wait on, I think," said Downing.
But for the club's sake, Downing does hope that the former Inter Milan, Fulham and Liverpool boss does stick around at The Hawthorns.
"We're in the second year in the Premier League and, although we are not safe yet, it's looking good.
"There has to be a structure with a purpose to move on to another level and Roy's experience is vital.""I do think it is important the club keep Roy," he added.
